About Us

Tailored counselling, with a smile.

The name’s Nightingale. Florence Nightingale.

Our Senior Counselling Consultant and founder, Florence, may have the surname Gray, but her approach is far more colourful. She believes that even as we work our way through the darkest of times, we can find reasons to laugh and enjoy a little brightness – that’s what Florence, and her team, brings to Nightingale Counselling.

Our aim is to deliver a life-changing and enlightening counselling experience, working with expert, effective practitioners, in a safe, calm, and confident environment. An environment that’ll make you feel at ease, safe, and comfortable to start your counselling journey.

What we don’t know about counselling, isn’t worth knowing.

With over 20 years-experience in counselling, and a further 20 years-experience working with blue chip companies, what Florence doesn’t know about counselling, isn’t worth knowing. She has the uncanny knack of being able to read a person within a few minutes of talking to them. And a knack of matching clients and counsellor, perfectly.

Counselling should be consoling.

Florence established Nightingale Marriage Counselling in 2002. In 2007, the services of Nightingale broadened, to include individual services. We took on associate counsellors – including some of the UK’s leading practitioners – to partner appropriate individuals. Counsellors with different skillsets, but with one common goal – to make a difference.

We’ve always prided ourselves on honesty, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. We know that seeing a counsellor may feel daunting, but at Nightingale, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. On the contrary, you’ve everything to smile about.

During your first counselling session, your counsellor will:

Assess the nature of the challenges and issues you are presenting
Find out what you want to achieve
Encourage you to ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have before committing to a counselling process
Allow you to get a feel for what counselling involves and how you will benefit
Discuss the practicalities of counselling by looking at times, number, and the length of each individual session required

How we work at Nightingale Counselling

Most of our clients now find it more convenient and beneficial to hold their counselling sessions via a teleconferencing platform such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or FaceTime. Rather than taking time out of their day to visit our consulting rooms in Glasgow, they can benefit from counselling sessions, that are delivered by experts specialising in specific methods of counselling, from all around the UK. The best bit is they don’t need to rush away from their office or organise childminding. Our counselling fits into their busy lives and it’s literally a click away.

For those people who still prefer to see a counsellor in person, we have a consulting room in La Belle Place, Glasgow (facing Kelvingrove Park). Parking is available directly outside the building. We know that you may not feel like shouting about seeking our services, so if you decide that you want to meet in person rather than online, we can offer our clients a private entrance to the building to avoid prying eyes.

To arrange an initial assessment call with Florence, please call our friendly receptionist on 0141 353 9373 or, if you’d prefer, drop us an email or complete our enquiry form and Florence will get back to you within 24 hours.
