Just Talking

Talking about your thoughts and feelings can help you deal with times when you feel troubled about something.

There are many reasons why you want to speak with a counsellor. Sometimes, when you come into counselling, you may not be able to specify the difficulty you are experiencing and just need a safe place to talk, explore and develop. There may also be several reasons, not just one that has brought you to counselling. We understand that seeking help during your time of need can often be daunting or even distressing, but we would like you to know that we are here to help no matter what the nature of your problem is.

An initial assessment session is important to assess your individual issues and challenges. During the initial assessment with our Senior Counselling Consultant, she will help you to identify the areas in life that may be causing you to feel out of sorts but for no specific reason. However, you can be assured that all our counsellors and psychologists are warm, friendly and will always have your best interests at heart.

I cost Florence a fortune in tissues when we worked together. Since then my life has turned around and I feel back to being myself again. Florence counselled me through post-traumatic stress disorder following the near-fatal delivery of my IVF twins. She’s helped to restore my lost confidence, my sense of humour, and my belief in myself. She’s given me incredibly useful tools and strategies to deflect triggers that previously would have made me irrational and anxious. She has helped me recover my sanity and restore balance to my everyday life through encouragement, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and her own remarkably sharp intuition and empathy skills. She has also empowered me to be more assertive in the presence of aggressive or dominant people or deflect the negative effects they have on my effectiveness as a mother of young twins, 3rd-year mature university student and fundraiser for several charities. I now feel proud of my achievements and feel I have a voice worth hearing. I would have no hesitation in recommending or endorsing the tremendous work carried out by Florence.

Some of our counsellors work integratively which means they are qualified to work with a range of different counselling models. Individuals think, feel, and react in different ways. By integrating different ways of helping an Integrative Counsellor can work with you to produce a unique therapy plan adapted to suit your personal issues. Engaging in the wrong type of counselling can be counterproductive and can leave you feeling frustrated and confused. One size does not fit all when it comes to counselling. Different models of counselling do different jobs. It is, therefore, crucial to ensure we refer you to a counsellor that is right for you.

Talking about your feelings can be hard. You need to be open and honest and often how you feel is hard to explain. Who you are speaking to, makes a big difference. I found Jenna thoughtful and supportive. Jenna gave me time to talk through my thoughts and gave kind and helpful feedback. Her structured approach combined with a natural easy manner gave me comfort when I needed it the most and helped me stay connected with what was right for me. I feel she gave me tools to address the challenges in my life and entrust in my own sense of self. This has given me the confidence to face the tests that life throws at me and assurance that I can be myself, and that’s OK. If you do feel you need support, I would highly recommend speaking with Jenna.
