They develop when you have an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object. If a phobia becomes very severe, you may organise your life around avoiding the situation causing your anxiety to be triggered. As well as restricting your day to day life, it can also cause considerable anguish for you and others close to you.
Phobias affecting your life
If you don’t come into contact with the source of your phobia or manage to avoid it may not affect your everyday life. However, if you have a phobia sometimes you cannot control when you will be confronted with your particular personal fear.
Helping you overcome your phobias
A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder which is triggered by your fear of confronting your phobia. Nightingale Counselling will help you understand the condition and find a way forward, with a treatment programme designed specifically to suit your needs. With the correct treatment, we can help you manage your condition and improve your quality of life. When you speak with Florence on the phone, she will assess your personal situation and decide by asking some key questions if she will refer you to one of our CBT Therapists or our clinical psychologist.
