Fear is a part of everyday life. We all feel uncomfortable in certain situations and that fear is part of human nature. Phobias, however, are much more pronounced than fears. A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, animal or travel.

They develop when you have an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object. If a phobia becomes very severe, you may organise your life around avoiding the situation causing your anxiety to be triggered. As well as restricting your day to day life, it can also cause considerable anguish for you and others close to you.

Phobias affecting your life

If you don’t come into contact with the source of your phobia or manage to avoid it may not affect your everyday life. However, if you have a phobia sometimes you cannot control when you will be confronted with your particular personal fear.

Testimonial

I never thought it would be possible to feel myself again and I’m over the moon to say I do. I couldn’t recommend the team at Nightingale Counselling enough to anyone who has lost the belief that there is light at the end of the tunnel. A professional service with a personal touch from the comfort of a lovely setting. Without a doubt the best investment of my life. Literally, the only regret I have is that I didn’t value myself enough, in the beginning, to pay the price for quality therapy by the best. Thank you once again!
