During the menopause, you can face so many challenges as you navigate your way through this transitional period in your life. You may find that you are irritable, have a low mood, lose your self-esteem, notice body changes, experience brain fog, suffer from a loss of libido, feel invisible and of course, hot flushes and night sweats … oh, what a joyful time!
The irritability part is the worse bit as you can start to alienate your nearest and dearest. Seeing them upset and worried about your reaction over the smallest thing can be upsetting and frightening for all of you. Women are often left feeling a mixture of “do they not understand?” to “OMG, what’s is wrong with me, why am I behaving like this?”
Working through the menopause together
Don’t despair. If you recognise any of the above and need a safe space to explore how you are feeling, with other woman who are experiencing the same transitional period in their life, then we can help. You are invited to join a safe, compassionate, and supportive group of women exploring what the menopause means to you.
We will be using a combination of counselling and coaching skills as we:
- Share our experiences of menopause – the good the bad and the ugly
- Explore tips and tools that can help manage symptoms
- Discover how to talk to your partner, children, parents, work colleagues
- Learn from one and other
- Reduce the isolation so often felt when going through menopause
- Celebrate this new phase in our lives
Here for you through the menopause
This fantastic new group will be facilitated by Nightingale Counselling and will initially take place using Zoom. There will be six sessions, every two weeks. The sessions will take place on a Wednesday evening, and they will last one and a half hours. If you feel like you would like to get together and meet face-to-face for a few of the sessions, we will organise a suitable venue.
This is our first time facilitating a group like this, but we’re sure it’s going to be popular. We want as many women as possible to get involved, but so we can generate meaningful discussion that everyone can join in with, we’ve decided to limit the group numbers to 12. We will be running more than one group so please register your interest.
If you feel that taking part in a group like this isn’t for you, don’t worry. One-to-one, face-to-face, and online counselling is also available. Just let us know and we can make arrangements to work with you on an individual basis.
